In this project we had to come up with a solution for a major world problem, or at least a portion of it. Some of the problems we thought about solving included cancer, poverty, world hunger, over population, and straws making a slurping sound. In the end my group chose poverty.
Engineering Design Cycle - Identify a need, research, develop solutions, select most promising solution, make a prototype, test/evaluate prototype, communicate design, redesign, and repeat
Poverty - Poverty primarily in a cycle. When you're in poverty you can't afford many things and sometimes that includes food. The lack of food causes sickness and the sickness prevents one from working. Without work one cannot get the money and the cycle repeats. The cycle can start anywhere, so my group decided to try and tackle the sickness part. In our presentation you can see how we did this.
Reflection: This project went well. My group worked great together and we got a lot of work done in a short amount of time. A high point during the project was being able to build a rough prototype of our final project. A very rough spot was trying to get our prototype to be waterproof. I personally found this project fun, interesting, and thought provoking.
